About the role and you
The School of Health and Biomedical Sciences aims to provide globally recognised practical, relevant, and innovative programs, research and industry training. The focus of the undergraduate program within Exercise Sciences is on the integration of exercise and physical activity into healthcare, sports performance, injury prevention and rehabilitation. It draws upon knowledge and techniques from biomedical science, physiology, biomechanics, nutrition, psychology and sport assessment. Areas of study include performance analysis, exercise and health, physical activity, exercise metabolism, injury prevention and rehabilitation, biomechanics, motor learning, skill acquisition, and exercise prescriptions for a range of health conditions.
As a leader in exercise and sports science education, RMIT provides practical experience opportunities with industry partners including elite sporting clubs, academies and institutes such as Tennis Australia, Netball Australia, AFLW, AFL, Victorian Institute of Sport and many more.
To help to support this aim we require passionate and professionally-experienced staff that will facilitate, support and assess Exercise and Sport Science students to achieve and maintain competency. We welcome expressions of interest from suitably qualified, ESSA registered (i.e. AES or AEP) and experienced candidates to register their interest to teach and/or mark assessments and provide practical supervision on a casual basis within the School.
Lectures, tutorials and practical classes are delivered at our Bundoora campus Monday to Friday, and the potential for practical supervision at the RMIT Health Sciences Clinic (would require AEP for this role) runs Monday to Saturday.
The volume, nature and availability of sessional teaching and practical supervision will vary based on the needs of the School including course offerings, timetabling and student demand. Current specific teaching needs of the Exercise Sciences discipline are in the following fields:
