Opportunities open to Academic Level A ($67,630 - $91,734) or Academic Level B ($96,564 - $114,672) + 17% superannuation
Design, develop and deliver new approaches for search technologies to support complex information needs, focusing on interactive sessional search for complex tasks
Utilise your research experience in crowdsourcing and lab-based user studies, and expertise in information retrieval
Roles and Responsibilities
Work independently as well as collaboratively with the team in contributing to quality research publications in high impact journals and developing new research initiatives, providing computer science support and creating original and creative project-based research
Contribute to preparing and submitting competitive research papers and grant submissions
Actively participate in keeping up-to-date on international trends and outcomes in research to contribute and deliver impactful information retrieval technologies
Skills and Experience Required
PhD in Computer Science or related discipline
Excellent research track record, including publications in the following venues: SIGIR, WSDM, CIKM, WWW, SIGKDD, NIPS, ACL, NAACL, COLING, ALENEX, DCC, ESA, SPIRE, ECIR, ADCS, TOIS, TKDE, IPM, IRJ
In-depth knowledge and expertise in developing software for large scale projects and the capability in manipulating large data sets is desirable
High level of communication skills both written and verbal as well as the ability to present research findings, concepts and knowledge with sound problem-solving & analytical skills
Excellent organisational skills and time management skills to effectively and efficiently conduct innovative research independently and collaboratively across a multi-disciplinary team of research candidates, staff and industry
Passion and commitment to build strong relationships across all levels of professional staff within the organisation as well as proven ability to source and seek alternative funding for projects through strengthening of partnerships with industry & government

The School of Science undertakes high-quality teaching and research across the natural and physical sciences, mathematics, biological sciences and computer science and technology disciplines. The School of Science houses state-of-the-art equipment for materials analysis including HTREM, SEM, and XPS within the RMIT Microscopy and Microanalysis Facility as well as a suite of spectroscopic techniques within the RMIT Vibrational Spectroscopy Facility.
Computer Science, Software Engineering, and IT programs at RMIT University are offered through the disciplines of Computer Science and IT, and Computer Science and Software Engineering, which together comprise one of Australias largest and leading educational facilities in the field.
