About the role:

The Principal Advisor is part of the People leadership team, working closely with the Chief People Officer (CPO) and collaborating with the People executive team to manage the development and execution of the strategy. This role is responsible for executing the People operating rhythm, managing content and submissions to key University forums, leading key engagement activities across the team and other significant programs of work as required.

The Principal Advisor supports the CPO on the financial management of the People function, and is responsible for briefing the CPO for significant engagements. The role is required to work effectively across all levels of the organisation to develop productive working relationships with University stakeholders. The Principal Advisor also provides leadership and support to the Executive Assistant to the CPO, to ensure effective and efficient prioritisation of diary commitments.

About you:

  • Demonstrated success in leading the development and execution of strategic planning activities in a HR context.
  • Commercial acumen in decision making and advice, supported by a record of success in providing a high level of advice and support at a HR executive level.
  • Exceptional influencing and relationship-building skills, including evidence of the capacity to engage an executive leadership team to drive cultural change and quality outcomes aligned to organisational strategy.
  • Proven ability to operate autonomously, and to navigate and problem solve on strategic and operational matters in a complex and sometimes ambiguous environment to deliver outcomes.
  • Sound financial management skills and the ability to develop quality business cases and executive submissions.
  • A passion for continuous improvement and success in delivering HR initiatives that have resulted in improved outcomes.
  • A strong understanding of the global environmental challenges relevant to the sector, and the importance of research, innovation and education.
