The School of Vocational Engineering, Health and Sciences offers a diverse range of certificate, diploma and sub-bachelor programs, and provides opportunities for students to extend their learning across the entire spectrum of vocational and higher education both within the College and beyond. With strong education links to industry, the school conducts a number of large-scale training contracts.

About the role:

The Associate Dean, Student Experience assists the Deputy Deans, Learning & Teaching in promoting a culture of student-centred excellence in the learning and teaching activities of the School by strengthening the student academic experience.

In this role you will be tasked with identifying, implementing and monitoring a definitive student academic support strategy for the School, with the key being to provide best practice in program design, delivery, assessment and work integrated learning.

You will also provide high-quality strategic advice, and leadership support to the Deputy Deans L&T, Executive Dean, Deputy PVC L&T, Program Managers and teachers with developing and implementing strategies for enhancing student engagement and embedding comprehensive learning and teaching improvement initiatives.

About you:

  • Strong leadership skills and proven ability to provide Learning and Teaching leadership and expertise that will contribute to improved student experience outcomes
  • A strong record of innovative teaching in a discipline relevant to the School underpinned by a deep understanding of contemporary Learning and Teaching theory
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of University and Government strategies and priorities in relation to Learning and Teaching, including specifically, knowledge of the VET environment and funding aligned to L&T compliance
  • High level interpersonal, communication, influencing and negotiating skills including the ability to consult, network and build relationships within the organisation and externally.

Extensive experience in Teaching and Learning within a VET environment along with a VET Diploma is essential.
