About the job
A successful candidate will work within our new Discipline of Nursing team. Nursing is a new and exciting addition to the Department of Health Professions which sits within the School of Health Sciences. As a result, nursing is rapidly developing in the innovative and progressive environment of Swinburne University.

We are looking for an academic within nursing who identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, to complement our already diverse and experienced nursing team and support in the development and implementation of culturally safe and appropriate nursing pedagogy. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to both teaching and research in nursing and liaise where appropriate with the Moondani Toombadool Centre.

The nursing curriculums engage blended models of unit delivery and utilise various education delivery methods. Our innovative approach to educational pedagogies enables the development of contemporary nursing curriculums. The incumbent will contribute their skills and experience in teaching and curriculum development. In addition, the incumbent will be expected to contribute to the development and progression of their research profiles and promote professional activities aligned to the strategic direction of the Faculty.

At Swinburne, we celebrate our diverse culture and the strength this brings to our workforce. We are committed to our Indigenous Employment Strategy and are therefore seeking to increase the representation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples within the University, where traditionally they have been under-represented. Specifically, the Nursing Team would like to grow the Indigenous workforce to further enhance the capability within these disciplines. Pursuant to a Special Measure under Section 12 (1) of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic), we will therefore only consider applications from suitably qualified Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander candidates for this position.
