About the College/Portfolio

RMIT University Library is a creative partner in the achievement of RMIT University’s teaching, learning and research goals.  It engages with other groups within the University to design initiatives that have a positive impact on the student experience including the provision of direct support, advice and guidance for students’ academic skill development.   It provides resources, services and facilities to support the information needs of RMIT's large and globally distributed student and staff population and supplies expertise for the management of the University’s archives and business information.

The Library Officer, Learning Services is responsible for delivering high quality library enquiry and information services. This includes the Ask the Library service and other physical services/digital services.  This position works collaboratively with other library staff to deliver quality Information Literacy instruction to library clients, both in digital and face-to-face formats.

This position works on the development of digital tools to engage users with library collections and services. It supports the development of information subject competencies, projects and subject guides

About you 

  • Demonstrated experience in providing quality, client-focused services, preferably in an academic library
  • Experience in the delivery of training to groups or individuals, along with sound computer skills including desktop applications, library management systems and social media tools
  • Demonstrated organisational skills, including a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • High level interpersonal skills to develop strong working relationships with a range of partners.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Experience in the development of digital materials would be an advantage

Qualifications 

  • Degree in Library and Information Services or equivalent with subsequent relevant work experience, or;
  • Completion of Associate Diploma/Diploma of Library and Information Studies with at least 2 years subsequent relevant work experience
  • Eligibility for membership of ALIA 

Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check.
