RMIT Europe, based in Barcelona is a coordinating centre for extending RMIT University's international engagement, and strategically growing our collaborative research and mobility activity in Europe, which is led by the Executive Director, Europe. It facilitates RMIT's engagement with European universities and industry partners, and supports trans regional collaborative projects, with a particular focus on partnerships across Europe, Australia, Asia, and Latin America.

The Role and Your Responsibilities

The Research Fellow will be based at RMIT Europe and the primary focus will be to play a pivotal role in delivering on RMIT Europe’s objectives for the EU Horizon 2020 project CreaTures (Creative Practices for Transformational Futures), for which RMIT Europe is the coordinator of a work package and a contributor to other work packages.

The CreaTures project demonstrates the power of creative practices to move the world towards social and ecological sustainability through addressing ways of being and lifestyles.

This role will see you responsible for conducting key tasks and producing deliverables. These include working closely with the consortium members to produce a glossary of terms and methodological processes, which will meaningfully contribute to establishing common vocabulary for the consortium members, creative practitioners, policy-makers, and other stakeholders to make and use the project outcomes more easily; designing unique templates to document and archive the consortium’s experimental productions (ExPs); curating, producing, and facilitating locally-specific engagement activities and documentation for a number of ExPs; coordinating the production of a small number of ExPs, and the organisation of the final event concluding the project. In addition, you will also be required to conduct desktop and field research using qualitative and co-creative methods and analysis, and produce high-quality research outcomes with the team members. The post holder will be coordinating and attending meetings, workshops, and compiling the deliverables of the project along with regular reporting to the lead partners both in Barcelona and other parts of Europe where project activities take place.

Skills & Experience Required

The successful candidate will show:

  • Demonstrated research experience (industry and/or academic) in two or more of the following: transformational creative practices in Europe; their impact especially in environmental and social sustainability; co-creative/participatory engagements, and; digital archiving. 
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including progress tracking and reporting.
  • Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders spanning arts, science, public/industry/non-profit sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate research results, concepts and knowledge in high quality research outputs and grant applications. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as a member of a research team and independently when required, to meet project outcomes and milestones.
  • Experience in event/engagement preparation and workshop facilitation, including co-creative methods

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (PhD preferred) and proven transdisciplinary research experience in transformational creative practices.
  • High level proficiency in English with some ability in Spanish beneficial.
  • Eligible to legally work in Spain.
