About the Job
We are looking for an emerging leader within the field of video journalism to join our Department of Media and Communication. In this role, you will provide a strong contribution to curriculum development, innovative teaching and research in video journalism and media production.

As the Lecturer in Video Journalism, you will convene and deliver into undergraduate and postgraduate units. You will be expected to carry out appropriate activities to maintain and develop your scholarly, research and professional expertise in order to contribute to the education of the next generation of video journalists and leaders, and to the advancement of knowledge in a rapidly evolving social, cultural and technological field. Working in an interdisciplinary environment, you will be capable of building significant internal and external links with other academic disciplines, professional organisations, industry and government.

Your established experience in contemporary video journalism and cross-platform media production and post-production, as well as your strong industry linkages, will be integral to this position. In addition, you will bring an understanding of industry trends and its impact to the School’s objectives as a leading institution for education, practice and research. You will have a demonstrable track record in gaining competitive research income, producing high-quality research outcomes and conducting research in multi-disciplinary teams.

About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:
  • Relevant qualification(s), expertise and industry practice in contemporary video journalism and cross-platform media production and post-production
  • Excellent skills with Adobe Premiere, Adobe Creative Cloud (or equivalent) and production hardware such as video cameras, DSLRs and field recorders
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage curriculum in the area of video journalism and media production
  • An emerging track record in attracting external research income through competitive grants and/or industry collaboration
