About the roles 

There are two exciting opportunities for a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in Nursing to join the school and make a positive contribution to the school’s research and teaching efforts. As the Lecturer, you will be responsible for carrying out teaching activities for the suite of programs offered by the school. As a Lecturer, you will be required to promote programs, establish relationships a variety of stakeholders and create a rewarding learning experience for RMIT’s students. This role will suit an individual who has a vested research interest in acute care nursing, mental health nursing or Indigenous nursing.  

The second opportunity is for an experienced Senior Lecturer in Nursing to make a significant contribution to the teaching and research efforts of the school. You will participate, develop, engage in and where appropriate lead high quality research projects that are aligned with the University’s research focus areas to achieve success in attracting research funding and to produce high quality outputs.  As the Senior Lecturer, you will have an interest in developing your research leadership role by embedding your research expertise into the life of the School and you will be required to develop high-quality, productivity-driven networks across RMIT and with local, national and global, internal and external partners. This role will suit an individual who has a vested research interest in acute care nursing, mental health nursing or Indigenous nursing. 

About you 

You will be a seasoned Lecturer and have real-world experience in the applied health industry. As a Lecturer, you will be working closely with our students and understanding their learning needs. Furthermore, you will create an environment that encourages creative thinking and ensure students are provided with excellent learning opportunities. Additionally, you will be confident teaching at different levels and be comfortable in coordinating large courses. As a relationship builder, you will enjoy networking across the university and develop creditability towards the school’s research efforts.

As the Senior Lecturer you have real-world experience in the applied health industry as a Registered Nurse. As a Senior Lecturer, you will have a demonstrated ability to coordinate large courses and deliver coursework at various levels of the university. You will be empathetic and illustrate leadership relating to student learning and experience. Academically, you will have a nationally recognised track record of research outputs in quality outlets. Furthermore, you will be responsible to develop and lead research teams, mentor academic staff to deliver high quality outcomes, attract and secure external research funding to sustain research effort and advance the school’s research efforts.

 

Qualifications 

Mandatory:

  • PhD or equivalent in relevant field
  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board Australia as a Registered Nurse
  • Evidence of a Post Graduate Qualification at Master level in Nursing 

Preferred: Completion of the Essentials in Tertiary Teaching Practice program or equivalent (if the appointed candidate does not meet this requirement at time of appointment, they will be supported to complete this as a requirement to fulfil their probation).

Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check.
