About the role and the College
The Discipline of Nursing offers programs that prepare students for diverse and complex healthcare environments, the teaching is underpinned by a culture of academic excellence, innovative research, clinical practice and strong community partnerships. We offer a Bachelor of Nursing, Master of Mental Health Nursing, Graduate Diploma Child and Family Health Nursing and Research Higher Degrees. We have launched a new BN curriculum in 2019 that has a strong consumer focus with an emphasis on diversity and preparing the graduate to be industry ready. As the Industry Fellow, you will contribute to the teaching efforts of the School within the Nursing discipline and predominantly you will focus on the area of your expertise; acute care nursing, mental health nursing or indigenous health as well as within the undergraduate and postgraduate programs where appropriate. You will be actively involved in establishing and maintaining memberships and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities. You will also play a pivotal role in the Schools course coordination and planning Work Integrated Leaning placements. In this role you will be expected to report, provide timely advice regarding issues with student progress and recommend student progress through all coordinated courses in consultation with the program co-ordinator and Discipline Leader of Nursing.
About you
You will have a proven track record, recognition and demonstrated professional practice within the previous five years within your discipline, either acute care nursing, mental health nursing or indigenous health, evidenced by your industry network, experience within academia or evidence of publications and/or competitive research funding. As an Industry Fellow, you will have experience in working with the clinical agencies to support student curriculum and prepare and deliver courses in an undergraduate nursing program and other courses. Additionally, you will be able to work effectively with students and communicate sensitive information related to effective learning. Furthermore, you will have the ability to draw on your networks and navigate through complex environments to maximise your resources and contribute to the collaborative working environment.
Qualifications
Mandatory:
Preferred: Completion of the Essentials in Tertiary Teaching Practice program or equivalent (if the appointed candidate does not meet this requirement at time of appointment, they will be supported to complete this as a requirement to fulfil their probation).
