About the role

At RMIT, we’re committed to accessibility, diversity, and inclusion. We believe everyone should be able to easily use and enjoy the RMIT website, apps and digital signage.

RMIT is looking for an experienced Digital Accessibility Specialist with demonstrate experience in Accessibility and Inclusive Design to consult, champion and embed accessible practices across the design practice at RMIT.

You will provide central oversight, expert guidance, coordination, and support to RMIT’s marketing and IT departments with a focus on promoting, assessing, and maintaining digital and information technology accessibility.

This position will also support RMIT content authors to create accessible content through the development and delivery of professional development resources, training and advice.

About you

You are passionate about creating inclusive user experiences that are intuitive and enjoyable. You will have a deep expertise in digital, accessibility and designing for users who use assistive technologies, such as screen readers, screen magnifiers and adaptive keyboards.

You will be motivated to empower other people through technology and showcase strong empathy for your audience.

In addition, we are looking for:

  • five years of digital accessibility analysis and design.
  • three years experience with WCAG 2.1 and ATAG 2.0.
  • Knowledge of and experience with assistive technologies (JAWS, NVDA, ZoomText, ClaroRead, VoiceOver, Dragon NaturallySpeaking) and mobile screen readers (TalkBack and VoiceOver).
  • Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS). Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) would be an advantage.

Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check.
