About the Job
The Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology are looking for a new Senior Technical Officer – Fabrication Workshop. You will be responsible for providing specialised technical support for the manufacturing & fabrication of complex mechanical devices & providing workshop support to the various disciplines and research centre’s within the Faculty. Under the direction of the Fabrication Workshop Manager, the Senior Technical Officer contributes to the day-to-day management and maintenance of nominated laboratories, workshops & facilities. This position is broad in scope and requires a high degree of initiative and self-management to deal with the wide range of functions and tasks.
About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:
• An appropriate Trade qualification in Fitting and Machining and/or Toolmaking.
• Experience in the manufacture of mechanical components & equipment from basic drawings supplied by staff, students and researchers.
• Skilled in the use of a wide range of manual machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and surface grinders.
• Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety policies, procedures and compliance.
