The Research and Innovation Portfolio supports researchers and graduate researchers with research partnerships, grants and research contracts, funding opportunities, capability development, research training, ethics and integrity, intellectual property, commercialisation, internships, communication and profile.

Research Partnerships and Translation Unit supports and enables researchers to realise the social, environmental and commercial impact of their research, their partnerships and their innovative spirit. We achieve this through:

  • Excellence in partnership support and management
  • Holistic and user-focused research translation, and;
  • Proactive IP curation and commercialisation.

About you

Reporting to the Director, Research Partnerships & Initiatives, the Senior Manager, Research Partnerships leads the team of Research Partnerships Managers assigned to RMIT's academic Colleges. The Senior Manager provides specialist expertise to guide the team to develop and maintain research partnerships driven by the School and College priorities and in line with the strategy of the University.

The position involves strategic planning aligned to School research strengths, strong stakeholder engagement with individuals and groups within the university and with industry and government partners are crucial elements in ensuring the University achieves its research and innovation aspirations.

This role will also work closely with the Industry Engagement team to deliver benefit to strategic accounts, referring opportunities including WIL and workforce development. The role will also work with the IP& Commercialisation team to identify commercial opportunities for RMIT researchers.

As the successful candidate you will have demonstrated experience of effectively developing, leading, energising, motivating and coordinating a team to deliver a high level of service, and achieve enterprise targets, in a research environment. You will have extensive experience in leading and developing research collaborations and partnerships in complex environments.
