Lead role in the review, negotiation and management of research agreements.

About the Job
In this integral role, you will support Swinburne University's research performance by taking a lead role in the review, negotiation and management of research agreements while also improving our processes for the review of research legal agreements.

Reporting to the Manager Research Funding, Contracts and Operations, as our new Senior Research Contracts Manager you will also establish processes and systems to assess contractual risk and improve the construct and content of standard legal agreements. In doing so, you will work with the Legal Office, Senior Grant Advisors, business development managers and other staff across the university.

As part of the Research Funding, Contracts and Operations (RFCO) team, you will also project manage the contract development and finalisation of complex research projects, for example, centres of excellence, cooperative research centres, large-scale industry projects, consortia agreements or collaborative ventures. You will also be responsible for the line management of the Senior Research Contracts Advisor and the Research Contracts Administrative Assistant.

About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:
• Completion of a relevant tertiary qualification with relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
• Previous relevant experience and demonstrated ability in pragmatically reviewing and negotiating research contracts and other research-related agreements.
• Relevant experience and demonstrated ability in dealing with and providing strategic advice on commercial, legal, and other issues surrounding contractual relationships and representing the organisation effectively in negotiations with third parties.
