About Your Role

By combining world-leading expertise from across the Thales group, we focus on creating and supporting the next generation of protected vehicles, digitised and high-accuracy small arms and munitions, as well as smarter integrated systems.

Thales Australia is committed to delivering capability assurance to Defence, while also reducing total cost of ownership across all areas. This is a great opportunity to support our Defence Force and help ensure Army is Future Ready.  

  • Provide the Program Director with continuous contract management support and legal advice in order to achieve the strategic & financial objectives of the program
  • Liaise between senior stakeholders and act for the Thales Australia’s Legal & Contracts function and assist with achievement of this function’s objectives
  • Assist the program director with elements of S&Q activities as well as preparing contractual correspondence
  • Resolution of contractual issues in a timely, strategic and cost-effective manner, ensuring Thales’s contractual position is protected and enhanced, whilst remaining aware of the need to maintain a positive relationship with the customer
  • Recommending and/or managing improvement initiatives to commercial procedures and practices
  • Ensuring legal compliance – keeping up to date with all relevant legislation and regulations in areas such as competition law, corporations law, work health and safety laws and regulations (in particular the Workplace Health & Safety Act).


How About You?

  • Degree in Law and current practising certificate issued by an Australian State
  • Extensive post qualification experience within a corporate/commercial department of a top tier/ mid-tier law firm or in a corporate legal department
  • Proven track record in the provision of contractual and commercial support which has facilitated the delivery of successful project and business outcomes
  • Previous experience in contract drafting, negotiation, dispute resolution as well as risk management
  • Previous experience in defence projects, engineering and/or manufacturing environment would be highly advantageous
