Role Overview

Fixed-Income Trading Technology Team
 

Our team resides in the Fixed Income, Derivatives and Market Risk Tech Area within ANZ’s Institutional bank and is responsible for maintaining the systems and services supporting the bonds and swaps electronic trading systems.

 

This role requires an experienced engineer with a proven track record in systems design, to be involved in the enhancement of key trading systems to respond to Bank’s Benchmark Transition Project.

 

Benchmark Transition cover to migration to new risk free rates as part of the move away from LIBOR and will have many potential impacts upon Sales and trading functions that rely on our systems to conduct their business.

 
Role requirements
 

The type of person we are looking for:

  • a self-starter that enjoys a challenge and working in an agile environment
  • someone who takes pride in their work and will complete tasks in a timely manner with minimum supervision
  • someone who can interface with both technical and business teams including traders and quants, as well as the Benchmark Transition Project
  • who will develop and nurture relationships with stakeholders to ensure that all system requirements are developed and implemented with the customer in mind
  • who enjoys learning new technologies and new ways of working

Your responsibilities:

  • understand the needs of the Benchmark Transition Project and how they impact the existing trading infrastructure
  • establish a realistic roadmap of systems changes to deliver the outcomes set out by the project
  • work with the development team to deliver these changes
  • drive continuous improvements of the system, development practice and processes
  • review all deliverables to ensure quality and conformance to standards
People skills
  • good communication skills and able to work effectively with colleagues located both onshore and offshore
  • work closely with developers, business and project managers from other teams and projects
  • excellent telephone consulting skills to gather requirements

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • several years’ development experience in Java
  • hands on experience across distributed system design
  • good understanding of bonds and swaps pricing as well as yield curve construction
  • experience consuming and producing integration endpoints (services, message queues)
  • solid understanding of end-to-end behaviour of enterprise applications, from front end through to database, authentication and access control
  • experience with tools such as Git, Maven, JIRA, Confluence and test driven methodologies
