About the College

The School of Engineering is renowned for world-class research outcomes, excellent research facilities and robust partnerships with local and international industry leaders. It comprises of seven Research focus: Aerospace Engineering and Aviation, Chemical and Environment Engineering, Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, Electrical and Biomedical Engineering, Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials and Mechatronics engineering and Mechanical and Automotive Engineering. School of Engineering is based in both, the Melbourne City campus and Bundoora campus.

About You and the Role

In this role, you will work collaboratively with research staff and partners at Stryker focusing on translating prototype code and algorithms into production code. You are required to participate & contribute proactively with research, industrial and clinical partners to create, develop and implement high quality workflows within existing software frameworks. Additionally, you will be responsible to develop software according to defined coding standards, including the use of versioning and code review tools. Also, you will participate continuous development through communication of research outcomes through high quality papers/journal articles, delivery of seminars and attending conferences that will benefit the technical advancement of this position. Lastly, you will have the commitment to contribute your time to the academic output of the School, to mentor postgraduate and undergraduate student and working in partnership with fellow researchers in the Centre for Addictive Manufacturing.

You will have:

  • Proven high-level proficiency programming in C++ and in-depth knowledge of modern software design and development methodologies, including software architecture and design experience
  • Demonstrated experience in developing software in accordance to the medical device standards IEC 62304 “Software lifecycle for medical devices” and IEC 62366 “Usability in medical devices” is highly regarded
  • Extensive experience with scripting languages including MATLAB and python will be an added advantage
  • Working experience in utilising software peer review tools and software testing tools as well as strong understanding of testing methods, including unit and functional testing
  • Possess sound understanding of modern SCM (software configuration management)
  • Ability to work autonomously whilst displaying a strong commitment to work in a team environment, including the demonstrated ability to confidently and effectively work with multidisciplinary team

Qualifications

Degree in computer science or software engineering.

Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check.
