Are you looking for an opportunity to be part of something really different - working in an agile way to innovate and deliver quality outcomes at pace? We’re looking for people who are passionate about transformational change and doing great things for our customers, to help us redefine banking for the future. Join us as we reimagine services using the latest platforms and technology, to better support our customers’ financial wellbeing.

The Australia Transformation team is seeking talent as we look to reimagine banking for the future. As part of the team you will design and deliver compelling customer-centric solutions focused on improving the financial wellbeing of ANZ’s retail and commercial customers.

So if you’re passionate about doing the best thing for our customers, simplifying products and services and using the latest technology to help our customers manage their money, buy and own homes and start and run businesses, then we’d love to hear from you.

What's your mission?

  • Here at ANZ, platform engineering is about delivering a seamless developer experience at scale through working with the rest of the technology in an innovative, adaptive and agile way. This means you will get to:
  • Solve for problems and issues that matter. You’ll work on providing leadership to make an impact to engineers and developers. You will do this using a laser focus on automation, cloud and DevOps engineering techniques to design to provide secure, simple and impactful solutions.
  • Develop both breadth and depth. We want a great engineering culture, and we will foster our people’s talent by giving opportunities to work on things that develop your deep technical expertise, and the engineers. You will also get to work, at a senior level, across the program team involving architects, developers and customer experience experts.
  • Leading the engineering practice. You won’t be faced with traditional hierarchies. Instead, leading the team means you will be constantly talking and facilitating rapid decisions, as you go. You will self-organise your own priorities and work to lead squads consisting of cloud and platform engineers.
  • Own it. Most importantly, you’ll get to deliver end to end service, and shape how ANZ delivers on their commitment to providing great customer service through technology.
  • Ship it. We will know you are successful when the platform goes live and it is owned and supported by your team with no fuss.

What will your day look like?

  • Partnering with the team to validate requirements and priorities, ensuring alignment to value, uncover dependencies and validate boundaries and sequencing/mapping of User Stories
  • Assisting the team with work required for process and control obligations
  • Engaging with multiple stakeholder groups
  • Exploring customer needs in a data-compelled way, develop and implement innovative solutions, test the outcomes, and iterate
  • Collaborating with Product Owners, Engineers, Business Services, Security, Risk, Compliance and Legal to translate business requirements into workable outcomes for the team
  • Leveraging tools for optimal collaboration and knowledge sharing
  • Implementing a ‘test & learn’ culture within the team, encouraging best practices around reviews, quality and documentation
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and implementing solutions to perform more effective and efficient analysis
  • Provide ongoing support for tech platforms as required e.g. problem / incident management
  • Optimising workflow management to ensure traceability back to strategic alignment
  • Verifying and validating what’s in pre-prod/production (especially after changes)

What will be in your toolkit?

  • Extensive experience working within cross-functional, agile or continuous delivery teams.
  • Previous experience in one or more types of Analyst/Designer roles will be highly regarded, especially experience with Platform Engineering
  • Demonstrated ability to develop deep domain and system knowledge to turn customer needs into business requirements and workable technology outcomes
  • Experience in translating requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • A desire to continuously learn new techniques and technologies, bringing innovative ideas into the team
  • Experience working within a cloud environment such as AWS, GCP or Azure
  • Understanding of the importance of Developer Experience, SRE and Cloud Native engineering principles.
  • A broad understanding of how to apply New Ways of Working to the role
