About The Role
Role Location: Melbourne or Sydney
Role Type: Permanent, Full Time

As a Manager, Collections Strategy, you have the responsibility for collections strategy, collections measurement, monitoring and reporting mechanisms used by Risk to support the business in maximising operational efficiencies whilst optimising bad debt charge across secured and unsecured products.  You will also require portfolio/project management skills to assist in strategy development and implementation as well as managing projects to ensure timelines are met.

About You
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
  • In depth understanding and Knowledge of collections processes and requirements, acts and legislation impacting collections practices
  • Proven computer skills including: statistical software (e.g. SAS, Model Builder, DP triad, probe, tallyman, debt manager etc), Microsoft applications; Sound understanding of Global best practice collection environments, strategies and techniques. Strong experience in risk management, managed strategies for both retail and commercial product; Core Risk principals - Processes are significantly different across geographies/products and customer segments (>75% of activities/steps vary);  Specialist knowledge is required to make competent decisions and difficult to obtain through training; Role deals routinely with external stakeholders and requires face to face meetings; and Ad hoc request sometimes occur but tend to have a non-urgent turn-around timeframe (within the same day) 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage in a down turn (where delinquency and losses have exceed 20% of the norm). has shown resilience capabilities.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, research and problem solving proven ability to turn data into information and information into strategy; Proven ability to automate collection strategies (collection systems or SAS); Proven ability to design a solution not dependant on "just" a collection system being present; Proven understanding of policy; People capability highlighting ability to influence change
  • Well-developed written and oral skills. 60% of role behavioural, stakeholder engagement evident, executive presence a strength. 40% of the role technical (having already exhibited experience in previous technical roles along this persons career path)
  • Strong understanding of ANZ Existing source and MIS systems or proven ability to design, enhance and work with MIS sources. Strong Ability to communicate up (one level above previous role) and amongst peer groups. Proven ability to articulate and get agreement on both growth and reduction credit strategies in collections. Skilled at the use of fact in discussions and communication with staff and peers. Demonstrated financial skills in portfolio management
