About The Role
Role Location: Melbourne / Sydney
Role Type: Permanent, Full Time


As a Manager, Risk Strategy, your role is to manage, identify and align risk strategy on existing customer lines of credit by clearly articulating the financial performance and worthiness of customers, products and lines of credit. You are responsible for predictive analytics and risk strategy development. From a growth perspective responsible for any lending driven campaigns that is aimed to alter rate, balance or limit of a customer (retail & small business).


About You
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
  • Educated to degree level in a numerate or commercial discipline; Effective people and project management skills - with the ability to motivate and manage a team of Analysts
  • A successful track record in Consumer Risk Management.  This includes experience in a number of components of the credit life cycle, in at least 3-5 or more product areas and in at least 2 functional areas. Core Risk principals: Processes are significantly different across geographies/products and customer segments (>75% of activities/steps vary); Specialist knowledge is required to make competent decisions and difficult to obtain through training; Commercial acumen / contextual business knowledge is required and difficult to obtain through training; Frequently deals with Business Stakeholders (e.g. daily or every second day) and contact is face to face; and Ad hoc request sometimes occur but tend to have a non-urgent turnaround timeframe (within the same day)
  • Strong P&L focus, with the ability to think operationally and implement projects providing a P&L impact. Extensive risk management experience, managed strategies for both retail and commercial products. Demonstrated ability to manage in a down turn (where delinquency and losses have exceed 20% of the norm). has shown resilience capabilities
  • Ability to create strong links with P&L and the operational business areas. Ability to maintain high standards of accuracy and work under pressure to achieve deadlines; Excellent commercial business acumen. Strong analytical, numerical, research and problem solving. Proven technical ability superceed by more recent focus on behaviourial management and strategic thinking. (20/80). Proven use of decision systems to automate account management strategies
  • Strong analytic and statistical skills, experience in business use of statistics a pre-requisite.  Good working knowledge of SAS, SPSS, PowerPoint; Strategy Manager and advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, Triad and data warehouse systems
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong capabilities to articulate complex analytical information.  Strong facilitation and negotiation skills. Strong Ability to communicate up (one level above previous role) and amongst peer groups. proven ability to articulate and get agreement on both growth and reduction credit strategies in acquisitions. Skilled at the use of fact in discussions and communication with staff and peers. Demonstrated financial skills in portolio management
