About the Job
Swinburne University of Technology in partnership with CSIRO is creating a world first pilot factory for 3D printing of carbon fibre composites, the “Industry 4.0 Testlab for Composite Additive Manufacturing” located at CSIRO’s Clayton site.

From the partnership we now are now seeking a new Facilities Manager Industry 4.0 Testlab who will be responsible for managing all aspects of the facility operations, planning, supply chain management, and engagement with internal and external partners to manage key stakeholder relationships and support acquisition of partners and funding.

One of the most critical functions of this role will be to facilitate communications and joint research activities between Swinburne and CSIRO and to ensure compliance with CSIRO’s processes and procedures. As such, the Facilities Manager will be involved in management of finances, resources, Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) and of staff requirements. This may include facilitation of training of engineering and research staff and project planning as well as hosting visitors and visiting research partners.

Reporting to the Research Director for the Industry 4.0 Testlab and providing regular updates to the Swinburne CSIRO joint management committee for the facility, you will work closely with other staff and teams in Swinburne Research & Enterprise and the University as well as CSIRO to support the research enterprise.

This position will initially be located at the Hawthorn campus. The position will then be located at the newly built facility in Clayton.

About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:
• Completion of a postgraduate tertiary qualification and relevant experience; or extensive management experience and proven management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
• Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills including the ability to build and maintain effective networks, develop collaborations and partnerships at senior levels with a diverse range of external partners.
• Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to prepare high quality business plans, proposals, presentations and reports.
• Demonstrated experience in managing projects including the development of project plans and identification of project risks and risk mitigation.
