About You and the Role
In this role, you will conduct research on intelligent and high-integrity navigation and collision avoidance systems, emphasising on UAS operating in urban environments, as well as other Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) denied and challenged environments, particularly focusing on safety-of-life and mission-critical operations. Coming into this position, you will perform high-impact & high-quality research on emerging sensor fusion and filtering methods based on applied optimal estimation and AI/machine learning approaches and this task require foundational work such as modelling and simulation of aircraft 6-DoF flight dynamics. Additionally, you are required to contribute 10% of your time to mentor & supervise postgraduate students and participate in learning program activities appropriate to areas of expertise as well as administrative functions related to the research project.

Qualifications
Mandatory: PhD (or near completion) in Aerospace Engineering, Avionics and CNS/ATM Systems, Robotics and Autonomous Systems, or in a closely related subject in Aerospace Engineering & Aviation domain.
Candidates with experience and in-depth knowledge in avionics, unmanned aircrafts systems, with high impact track record in GNC and collision avoidance systems and/or AI and/or aerospace systems and software engineering will be highly regarded.
Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check.
