About the Portfolio and Role
The School of Science provides over 45 bachelor and postgraduate programs, and undertakes world class research across the disciplines of Biosciences and Food Technology, Chemistry and Environmental Science, Physics, Mathematical Sciences, Geospatial Sciences and Computer Science (Information Technology and Software Engineering). One of RMIT's top-performing research schools, we deliver research that addresses the 'real life questions' essential to Australia's innovation agenda.
The Technician Aquatic Ecotoxicology is expected to work in the ecotoxicology laboratories based at Bundoora for several A3P/AQUEST programs, this include maintaining cultures, conducting toxicity tests, supporting staff and post graduate students on laboratory experiments. This will also include ensuring that the laboratory is adequately resourced for cultures and experiments. In addition, tasks will also include the collation of laboratory and field data. The Technician Aquatic Ecotoxicology will contribute to delivering the Research Program of the Aquatic Pollution Prevention Partnership (A3P).
About you
In this role you will use a variety of aquatic ecotoxicological techniques to assess the toxicity of waters and sediments exposed to pollutants and conduct analyses of these data. You will prepare equipment for field work, prepare passive samplers for field deployment and learn new techniques for ecotoxicological tests.
It is expected that you will have good interpersonal and communications skills appropriate for interacting with staff and to support students to help them learn and conduct ecotoxicological tests, together with a strong commitment to teamwork. You will also have experience with data management and participating in aquatic research projects.
Qualifications
Mandatory:
Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree related to biosciences
Victorian Driver�s license or equivalent
Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check
