About The Role
Role Location: 242 Pitt Street, Sydney NSW 2000
Role Type: Permanent, Full-Time
You will lead a team responsible for the development and delivery of external communications to support ANZ Institutional's strategic agenda. You will work closely with the Head of Institutional Communications to support the external communications needs of the division - with a focus on proactively promoting Priority Sectors and Economic Research. Your team will be focused on media engagement (in close collaboration with Group Media), content campaigns, speech writing and other support for senior executives, and the use of external channels to leverage this content in a way that enhances and protects the reputation of the Institutional bank.
Your key priorities and responsibilities include:
- Lead a small team that delivers highly complex external communication strategies to support the reputation of Institutional on time and on budget.
- Develop best practice governance structures, platforms and processes to ensure smooth and efficient external communications that deliver Insto's strategic agenda and purpose
- Plan, negotiate and resource external communications campaigns, events (ie media roundtables, briefings etc) and/or content within budget and timeframe, while ensuring business objectives are met.
- Support stakeholders in engaging externally in a way which enhances both employee and customer experience (i.e. speech writing and other preparation).
- Proactively identify all risks and potential issues, and working across the organisation to make sure they are mitigated and/or planned for.
- Maintain a broad perspective and understanding of industry issues and trends, and the operating environment - internal and external - to guide team on risks and opportunities.
- Role model all of ANZ values, strongly demonstrate ANZ's New Ways of Leading, and actively promote our Aspirational culture (including speak-up)
About You
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Extensive skills and experience in senior level strategic communications, including media relations.
- Works collaboratively with others and builds constructive working relationships; excellent negotiation and influencing skills
- Makes sound and timely decisions and demonstrates reliability and calmness in high-pressure situations
- The ability to consult, produce and follow through on significant communication plans and strategies.
- Commercial thinker, able to demonstrate in-depth customer insights and act on opportunities
- Outstanding verbal and written communications skills
