  • Opportunity to conduct research project funded by the Australian Research Council Linkage Program in collaboration with Ford Motor Company and will be conducted in close collaboration with Ford Research and Innovation Centre in Dearborn, Michigan
  • Report directly to Discipline Leader (Manufacturing and Mechatronics); with day-to-day reporting to Professor Alireza Bab-Hadiashar
  • Remuneration at Academic Level A ($68,983 - $93,569) or (Academic Level B ($98,495 - $116,965) + 17% superannuation

About the College

The College comprises three Schools delivering a broad range of programs in science, engineering, health and technology at higher education certificate, bachelor, masters and PhD levels.  There is a vibrant research community attracting funding from a range of government and industry sources. About You & the Role

  • Work collaboratively as well as independently with multidisciplinary researchers contributing to quality research and communicate and present research outcomes and concepts through high quality papers/journal articles, seminars, conference and forums
  • Prepare and submit competitive research grant proposals and applications
  • Contribute 10% of your time to mentor & co- supervise undergraduate students and higher degree by research candidates as well as administrative tasks related to the research project

You will have:

  • Evidence of emerging track record of published research work in the fields of 3D computer vision and machine learning through journal publications, conference contributions and/or technical reports either as lead or co-author
  • Proven experience in CAD and solid mechanics are highly desirable
  • Experience in grant submissions and applications as well as generating alternative funding through effective liaison with industry and government
  • Passion and the commitment to work effectively with multidisciplinary colleagues, project leaders and industry partners
  • Strong organizational skills to manage and plan time effectively & efficiently to conduct innovative research independently and collaboratively as a team member in meeting project outcomes and timelines

Qualifications

Mandatory: PhD in Mechatronics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or another relevant field.

Preferred: Completion of the Essentials in Tertiary Teaching Practice program or equivalent (if the appointed candidate does not meet this requirement at time of appointment, they will be supported to complete this as a requirement to fulfil their probation).

Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check.
