You will manage the delivery of an effective quality assurance (controls assessment and monitoring) and financial & regulatory reporting governance program for the Divisions to assist in mitigating the risk of financial misstatement. The role is responsible for ensuring that quality assurance and financial & regulatory reporting governance activities undertaken within the Division are delivered in line with ANZ's Financial Governance Framework.
You will are part of the Financial Control (FC) community of practice, with principal accountabilities being:
- Ensuring compliance with all statutory and regulatory reporting requirements
- Assessing and monitoring of the Groups accounting policies and internal control frameworks
- Integrity of the numbers by delivering accurate, reliable and timely financial information
- Driving simplification, ensuring consistency with objectives and a focus on continuous improvement
- Embedding a robust governance culture
Your key priorities and responsibilities include:
- Ensure compliance with ANZ Finance policies and procedures
- Ensure business regulatory and operational risks are managed and mitigated
- Ensure risk culture is embedded in the Divisional Financial Control teams
- Lead, undertake, and monitor the financial & regulatory reporting governance programs within the Division, including the design, execution, documentation and delivery of governance activities over the financial reporting process, operational and compliance risks. This includes a combination of process controls testing, compliance testing, substantive testing and agreed upon reviews depending on business activities and risks.
- Direct and manage the risk identification, assessment, analysis, management and reporting activities in the Division.
- Ensure all assurance and governance services delivered by the Divisional Financial Control teams comply with ANZ Group Finance, Risk, and Compliance requirements and associated regulatory and professional requirements.
- Effective stakeholder management
- Increase confidence in ANZ's Financial Governance Framework via effective execution and delivery of a quality compliance and governance program
- Provide quality technical advice and recommendations to business units in the Divisions whilst also ensuring consistency in approaches between different business units and group (finance, risk and legal & compliance) departments, and external Australian regulatory & technical requirements.
- Monitoring compliance of Group Finance operational policies and procedures within the Divisions
- Ensure a sound control environment exists and is operating effectively

About YouTo grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- A Bachelors university degree, or have extensive senior executive experience. Chartered Accountant (CA) / Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) an advantage.
- Deep expertise, knowledge and experience in the development, planning and execution of financial reporting and operational risk governance and control programs, including statutory and regulatory reporting within a financial services environment
- Deep understanding of banking and financial services business activities, external compliance regimes and operations.
- Strong forensic and analytical skills applied to risk and internal control assessments for financial reporting and operational risk. Detailed and pragmatic understanding of the design, oversight and operation of enterprise governance programs
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills applied at a commercial level with excellent written and verbal communication skills in a technical context. Experience in presenting finance matters, including issues and resolutions, to senior executives and board-level stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
