Graduate School of Business & Law

The Graduate School of Business & Law (GSBL) commenced operations in January 2010. We offer a successful Juris Doctor program that began in 2007 and in 2021 will offer undergraduate programs in law.  We also teach Commercial law courses into Bachelor of Business degrees at RMIT. Our programs focus on producing law graduates for the changing world of work and include core courses in technology and innovation.

About the Role

This is a 3-year fixed term role with the view to continuing employment and the with the opportunity to be part of a new undergraduate law degree that focusses on technology and global outlook! As a Lecturer, Law you will contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the Graduate School of Business & Law (GSBL). More specifically, you will be responsible for carrying out teaching activities in the Juris Doctor program, undergraduate law studies, contribute to HDR supervision in the GSBL and for maintaining and advancing your scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities. You will also actively promote the program by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities.

About You

You will demonstrate the ability to prepare and deliver programs and courses at undergraduate and post-graduate levels, including online delivery, and high-quality curriculum or program materials in the required fields of expertise. Have a proven capacity to work effectively with and to negotiate sensitively with students especially on issues related to effective learning will be imperative to your success in this role. Ability to build effective networks with colleagues and generate alternative funding projects through effective liaison with industry and government will be highly advantageous.

Please note that experience and interest in two or more of the following fields of expertise is a requirement of this role: Commercial Law, Contract Law, Law and Technology, Legal Ethics, International Law and Business and Human Rights.

Qualifications 

Mandatory: Qualification in undergraduate law or a Juris Doctor with the addition of a PhD in Law or have been an active candidate for your PhD for at least two years.

Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check

Preferred: Completion of the Essentials of Learning and Teaching (login required) or possess (or eligible to apply for) appropriate HEA fellowship (if the appointed candidate does not meet this requirement at time of appointment, they will be supported to complete this as a requirement to fulfil their probation).
