About the role

This is a timely opportunity to join a newly formed team with a renewed focus on opportunities in workforce training and development. As a Business Development Manager you will be contributing to the economic recovery and development of future focussed skills, while advancing your career.

The Business Development Manager is responsible for securing business development and sales opportunities within agreed priority areas of workforce training. The role will maintain and expand on extensive market networks and relationships that are strategically aligned and relevant to the successful development of the business.

The focus of the position is on lead generation and conversion of training opportunities, identifying and securing new workforce training opportunities in priority areas by proactively pursuing and expanding broad, deep, scalable, recurring, commercial partnerships with Industry and Government. 

Responsibilities include:

• Partnering with Government and Industry to build strong relationships and develop an understanding of their workforce training needs while working with internal teams to design solutions and maximise contracted value to agreed targets

 • Establishing and maintaining an effective network to explore and design solutions for priority workforce development opportunities.

 • Establishing critical and broad relationships within the University community, with a particular focus on RMIT Online and Vocational Education, to support, collaborate and initiate cooperative commercial undertakings.

 • Planning the sales pitch approach, developing proposals and delivering commercial outcomes

About you 
 This role is a great career move for an experienced Business Development professional with a strong understanding of the sales process and pro-active, organised approach to identifying and pursuing opportunities.

To secure the opportunity, you will need:

  • Proven success leading the development, implementation and execution of a sales pipeline of complex solutions
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to influence decision makers in order to successfully achieve desired outcomes
  • A strong record in managing internal and external relationships to a senior level
  • Proven ability to meet agreed targets and deliver commercial opportunities
  • Knowledge of workforce learning and workforce capacity building will be an advantage

Professional training will be provided to support your success.

Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check.
