About the Group

RMIT’s Research and Innovation Portfolio supports researchers to help shape the world. Part of the Research and Innovation Portfolio, Research Strategy and Services supports researchers to achieve excellent research outcomes. Research Strategy and Services also supports the delivery of enablement via implementation and continuous improvement in services, systems and processes improving the way we deliver services to the Research Community.  

About You

This is a new position reporting to the Senior Manager, Planning and Enablement. As the successful Business Analyst, you will be responsible for analysing functional and intra-functional services and processes with the view to identifying optimisation, automation and continuous improvement in services and processes via informed and relevant recommendations to key stakeholders. You will also be responsible in supporting senior staff with strategic decision making based on these assessments.  

This position will develop business requirement documentation, process enhancement workflows, knowledge articles, maturity assessments, risk assessments and detailed reports based on the needs of the senior manager and stakeholders. The Business Analyst will work closely with a variety of relevant stakeholders across the R&I Portfolio, Operations Portfolio, digital squads and Colleges, exercising initiative and effective communication while maintaining alignment with relevant policies and procedures. 

To be successful in this position, you’ll have experience of but not limited to: 

  • Extensive Business Analyst experience in project or initiative delivery including designing and mapping processes in Visio/Promapp or equivalent, data analytics using PowerBi or equivalent, generating new workflows in Power Automate or equivalent and developing strategic recommendation papers. 
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building and negotiation skills with the ability to work collaboratively with academic and professional staff from diverse backgrounds and portfolios to understand the problems and enable finding solutions. 
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills and the capacity to develop creative solutions to solve stakeholder needs based on the problem statements whether that is improvement to existing processes or the delivery of new business processes or digital enhancements. 
  • Demonstrated ability to gather, analyse and develop business requirements from a range of clients and stakeholders to deliver business optimisation initiatives. 
  • Prior experience with agile methodology and working in delivery squads is desirable. 

Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check.
