About the role

We teach courses from introductory to advanced level, in a range of Computer Science and IT areas. We are looking for staff in the following areas:

Programming (Python, Java, C# ,and C++), Database, Software Engineering, Usability Engineering, Computer Security, Rapid Application Development (Ruby on Rails), IoS development, .NET development, Project Management, Internet of Things, Dev Ops, Professional Development, Cloud Computing, Algorithms, Data Science, and Bigdata Management.

Practical sessions are typically two hours in duration, consisting one hour of tutorial and one hour of lab based work. They include a range of tasks such problem solving, hands on programming activities and tutor led discussions. You will assist students in other aspects of their learning, including critical analysis, problem-solving development methods, and assignments.

The tasks of a tutor include tutorial preparation based on material supplied by the lecturer, delivery of the tutorial and up to an hour of consultation, all of which is included in the payment.

About you

You will possess a wide range of knowledge and skills in your field of expertise, and will have the know-how to utilise this to enhance student success and outcomes. You’ll strive to provide the best student experience possible, and are capable of using the latest digital tools and technologies to deliver innovative course material in an exciting manner. 

You will be working with the course coordinator and be willing; 

  • To be coached 
  • To reflect on your teaching style to adapt to student needs 
  • To implement improvement based on best practice and student feedback 

Tutors for Masters level courses must have PhD degree in a suitable content area for the course. Qualifications should be accompanied by relevant industry experience. 

Teaching experience in a higher education context is highly desirable and candidates who have 3+ years of work experience will be highly valued. If you are able to provide examples of previous Good Teaching Scores (or equivalent) this will be beneficial. 

Most tutorial classes will be held between the hours of 8:30am to 6:30pm and will be a mix of on-site teaching and remote learning.

Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check. You must be available to start from 15th February 2021.
