About Your Role

The Thales Defence Mission Systems Domain is a leading provider of integrated mission solutions to surface ships and submarines, and is the No.1 Naval fleet support and technical services company in Australia.  As a part of a team working with engineers, technicians and production staff involved in the manufacture and repair of Towed Arrays for the COLLINS class submarine, this position provides electrical and mechanical test and evaluation activities while also assisting in production and repair activities as required.

  • Electrical, electronic, acoustic, and mechanical testing and of all components, production materials and qualification samples

  • Develop and document test methods and procedures for products and equipment as required.

  • Perform general mechanical processing and assembly

  • Proactively participate in the continuous improvement of Lean systems and documenting of processes

  • Prepare technical reports and procedures in support of manufacturing processes, utilising configuration and inventory management software to record and control data (IPESA)

How About You?

  • Advanced Diploma in electronic/mechanical engineering or equivalent

  • Experience in fault finding including analysis and documentation of process and results

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • A continuous improvement mindset and problem-solving ability

  • Ability to prioritise tasks and workload effectively
