About the role
The Domain Architect is a key member of the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (oCTO) team. You are responsible for ensuring domain capabilities are aligned, cost-effectively, with the long-term needs of the business and enterprise architecture by leading efforts to develop and maintain the architectural assets for a domain (eg Salesforce, integration) and working with service management teams and other oCTO roles to lower the total cost of ownership and reduce technical debt. You will be responsible for taking a practical approach to supporting the business. This starts and ends with a focus on delivering signature-ready, actionable recommendations to business leaders, so they can adjust policies and projects to achieve target business outcomes.
The Domain Architect will develop, maintain and govern a key architecture domain across the University while working across the entire enterprise architecture. You are responsible for ensuring alignment of the domain architecture to defined blueprints and architectures. You will lead, prioritise and develop the overall domain architecture approach for the organisation, and communicate architectural direction. This will include being a key technical adviser on initiatives, providing early validation of requirements and general suitability and fit. You will oversee configuration, changes and new development, advising on the best practice use of the platform, discouraging unnecessary customisation and minimising technical debt. You will lead and facilitate the creation of governance, assurance and standards to guide decision making within your domain.
About you
You will come to the role trusted and respected as a thought leader who can influence and persuade business and IT leaders. This is likely gained from similar roles in large and complex organisations. You bring a practical approach to decision making and principle-based approach to problem solving. You are unflappable in the face of opposition to architectural ideas, bringing a capability mindset to your approach to digital transformation.
You will be comfortable, experienced and accomplished at working with business executives, and able to push back in a professional and diplomatic way. You will be highly collaborative and supportive of the business and of its ideas and strategies.
You will be vendor - and technology-neutral more interested in business outcomes than in personal, or those business and IT leaders with vested personal preferences. You bring to the role considerable years of architecture experience in one or more domains digital, experience, enterprise systems, data & integration or infrastructure, network & security. You have five or more years of hands on experience in key technology platforms within these domains (eg Salesforce, Adobe, Servicenow, Microsoft, Instructure), spanning multiple implementations where you were accountable for designing and governing scalable, secure solutions. You are likely to have appropriate certifications in these platforms and be committed to continuing to build your capabilities in these areas.
To apply, please submit your resume and cover letter outlining your interest for this role. For more information on the role or a confidential chat please contact Margaret Cook, Senior Talent Advisor, on 9925 9092 or margaret.cook@rmit.edu.au
