About the Group

The newly formed Experience Organisation in RMIT, part of the Operations portfolio, is established to create great experiences and journeys for our Students, Researchers and Industry Partners. A key component of these journeys and experiences is delivered via our digital platforms. The digital experiences however need to seamlessly integrate with on campus or staff assisted activities of our Students, Researchers and Industry Partners.

Digital enablement and digital transformation are of increasing importance to the research, teaching and learning life of a university, particularly a ‘global university of technology and design’ like RMIT. Best in breed digital capabilities where established as part of the RMIT 2020 strategy. Within the context of the new 5-year strategic plans, these digital capabilities need further maturing to support:

  • Best in class digital student experience – transform the student experience and underpin the digital strategy.
  • Accelerate RMIT’s digital transformation – With the impacts of COVID-19 on the education eco-system, increased need and demand is emerging to respond or create optimise education products and experiences.
  • Experience based and Agile delivery organisation – Integrated business and technology teams delivering and optimising end to end journeys for our audiences.
  • Data to fuel differentiation & decisions – Ensure quality data and integrated systems are available to support data-based decision making, and enable personalised and contextualised services.
  • Simple but secure system foundations – Ensure foundation technology is simplified, free of duplication, and secure.
  • The Experience Organisation has an essential role to play in realising these goals.

    About You

    Working as part of the Student Experience – University Lifecycle team, you will be responsible for leading the student and customer experience team for services delivered within Student Experience. You will be responsible for using technology to enhance the student life and learning experience at RMIT and leading research and innovation by adopting new technologies to deliver simple, easy to use services and systems. 

    The Student Experience team will deliver innovative technology solutions that will enable digital Learning, Teaching and Research capabilities providing functionality that provides a best in class digital experience.

    Working with stakeholders and project managers, you will manage the responsibilities and impediments to ensure successful delivery. You will also help manage realistic outcomes for the business while maintaining high standard of continuous improvement and meeting delivery goals committed.

    This position and team workings parallel to the Digital Learning Experience squad, focusing on project, enhancements and discovery work for anything in the Learning and Teaching ecosystem not covered by Canvas and canvas integrations.

    To be successful in this position, you’ll have the following key skills:? 

    • Proven experience in leading teams and ensuring clear priority of work for the team.
    • Experience in working directly with a distributed stakeholder group, running prioritisation meetings and ensuring ongoing visibility of progress and capacity.
    • Proven experience in being resourceful and entrepreneurial (in approach to problem solving).
    • Experience in working in a distributed squad setup.
    • Experience working across a dynamic portfolio at various levels of scale.
    • Analytical and critical thinker with good experience with facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution and continuous improvement.
    • Strong technical aptitude and experience leading teams in delivering quality software.

    This position is know as Student Experience Team Lead internally. 

    Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check.
