About The Role

Role Location: Melbourne

Role Type: Permanent, Full time

You will drive the efficiency, consistency and accuracy of the credit metric forecasts for the Group, delivering required forecasts, scenario analysis and stress tests for the respective functions, meeting Risk, Regulatory and Divisional demands. Responsibilities include consolidation of existing forecasting processes, the development of more rigorous and insightful forecasting and stress testing and improved modelling techniques and relevant scenarios for use in internal decisioning processes and the Group’s ICAAP.   You will also be required to support other Enterprise Risk initiatives from time to time.

The role requires pro-active and regular engagement with a diverse range of senior stakeholders to work collaboratively and ensure a transparent, consistent and comprehensive approach to stress testing and forecasting.  It requires an ability to identify issues and opportunities for improvement or simplification, and an ability to think how things might be done differently, propose new approaches, secure senior stakeholder acceptance and execute the proposed approach.

Your key priorities and responsibilities include:

  • Support the portfolio analytics function with scenario analysis and insights that assist the CWCO in determining optimal credit portfolio decisions
  • Complete country specific forecasting and stress testing requirements to meet local regulatory requirements.
  • Improve the understanding of key credit metrics across the Division, developing tools, training materials and providing advise/support to the business on forecasting techniques and processes.
  • Direct the ICAAP process, stress testing the provisioning, capital and other outcomes to meet Group and regulatory requirements
  • Continually improve forecasting tools, including the development of econometric models/machine learning models to improve the accuracy and validity of credit forecasts.
  • Ensure system developments incorporate the Group’s specific needs in relation to forecast/stress test data attribute requirements
  • Develop appropriate reporting that assists in forecast model performance monitoring (to maintain accuracy and highlight areas requiring further work)
  • As IFRS 9 model user, establish and maintain appropriate IFRS 9 model monitoring frameworks and processes, methodology, examination and review. 

About You

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Expert knowledge of credit metric methodologies and processes and related accounting standards.
  • Excellent problem solving skills with tertiary qualifications in finance/ economics/mathematics/statistics.
  • Ability to form close working relationships with a variety of business, technical and other experts.
  • Deep understanding of the bank's business activities and related risk requirements.
  • Ability to influence/negotiate at all levels of the organization and across geographies.
  • An ability to multi-task and maintain delivery to tight timelines.  An ability to deal with ambiguity and challenge current practices and assumptions
