Do you enjoy coming up with creative ideas to build a sense of community? Are you passionate about helping tertiary students grow and develop their skills and experience? Do you have experience recruiting or engaging a large number of volunteers?

A rare opportunity exists for a proactive and community-minded individual to join the Student Life team at Swinburne as a Volunteer Coordinator.
Our volunteering program is well established, with systems and procedures already in place to ensure a range of opportunities are available for students to develop their employability skills. We’re looking for an ambitious individual who can help us take the program to the next level. In particular, you will:
• Develop creative strategies to recruit and engage a large number of students in volunteering
• Mentor students in the collaborative design and delivery of initiatives for their peers
• Build strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance program outcomes
• Perform all administrative aspects of the Volunteering program

In return for your experience and enthusiasm, you will be part of a highly collaborative team who are focused on meeting the needs of our growing and diverse student community. We will constantly challenge you to achieve things you thought you couldn’t and support you along the way.

This role is anticipated to be working from home 2-3 days a week initially and is otherwise based across our Melbourne campuses (Hawthorn, Croydon, and Wantirna).

About you
To be successful in the role, you will have experience in:
• volunteer management/coordination, including recruitment
• mentoring people from diverse backgrounds
• managing projects from idea to evaluation
• relationship management skills
• seeing the big picture and translating it to your work and targets
