About the job
As our Software Engineer, you will fill a radio astronomy software engineering role within the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology. Based at the Centre of Astrophysics and Supercomputing, in collaboration with other team members, you will focus on the design, development, prototyping, benchmarking, and documentation of a real-time signal processing system for pulsar timing for the Square Kilometre Array. This will entail software engineering, modeling, code optimisation, and preparing and publishing documentation. In doing so, you will help ensure that the design of the pulsar timing processor for the Square Kilometre Array meets the specifications and is accurately costed and documented.

About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:
• Bachelor of Computer Science and Software Engineering, or a related field
• Experience in software development in astronomy or a related field
• Advanced knowledge of the C, C++ and Python programming languages
• Experience with radio astronomy signal processing
