About the Role 
The Commercial Property Manager position at Swinburne University requires a commercially focused and adaptable property professional to oversee the university's commercial property portfolio. Responsibilities include overseeing quality and sustainable retail tenants, generating revenue, managing property acquisition and divestment transactions, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.  This role involves optimizing campus amenities, driving operational improvements, and achieving commercial property outcomes in line with the university's strategic objectives. 

The Commercial Property Manager will also be involved with developing and executing the university's retail tenancy strategy and managing the university’s external property agent. 

The ideal candidate should be a commercially savvy leader who is adept at challenging conventional practices and staying abreast of industry trends to deliver innovative solutions. Demonstrated experience in implementing property excellence programs encompassing policy, personnel, and systems is crucial. 

The role necessitates proficiency in the Retail Tenancies Act, drafting and negotiating property contracts, fulfilling settlement transactions, as well as the ability to develop commercial property policies and procedures for the university. Furthermore, the Commercial Property Manager will assist the Director on property-related initiatives to support Swinburne University in achieving its Horizon 2025 strategy.

About You  
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities: 
  • Extensive and proven experience in property/asset management and leasing portfolio financial management  
  • High level specialist skills in leasing and licensing, including a comprehensive understanding of relevant Acts 
  • Demonstrated experience in high level internal and external stakeholder management 
  • Extensive and proven property acquisition and/or divestment experience including preparation of business cases, coordination of due diligence, commissioning of valuations, EOI processes, and managing outcomes through real estate agents and internal stakeholders 

Qualifications
Postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
