About the Role 
We are looking for an experienced tender specialist to fill a new role in our team.  

The Senior Officer, Research Tenders and Industry Contracts will be managing Swinburne’s participation in tender panels and coordinating tender submissions. Responsibilities include identifying research tendering opportunities, supporting proposal development, costing and pricing research projects, completing due diligence and risk assessments, pre-reviewing supplier contracts, and providing advice on tender requirements and relevant University policies and procedures.  

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Research and Industry Contracts, the incumbent will also contribute to the continuous improvement of research tendering processes and templates, record management, and the development and delivery of training materials for Researchers and support staff seeking to engage or assist in tender management and submissions.

The Senior Officer, Research Tenders and Industry Contracts must be able to cultivate productive working relationships with key stakeholders, have strong project management and customer service skills, attention to detail, as well as highly developed communication and writing skills to enable the seamless project management of tender panels and submissions.

 

About You  
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities: 

  • Demonstrated experience with the development of tender responses and commercial proposals. 
  • Demonstrated experience in drafting, negotiating and advising on research contracts within the higher education or commercial or government environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of key issues and risks associated with research and commercial contracts and the ability to identify, understand, and clearly articulate the implications of contracts terms and risk.
  • Ability to apply initiative, judgement and problem-solving skills, particularly to issues in commercial contracting.
  • Commitment to the provision of quality service, with demonstrated ability to provide user friendly, response client service.

 

Qualifications

  • Completion of a relevant tertiary qualification with relevant experience or an equivalent combination and/or education/training.
  • Progression towards or completion of a law degree and/or paralegal experience will be viewed favourably.
