About the Role 

We have an exciting opportunity to join the team that manages the operations of the supercomputing environment at Swinburne University. Leadership in academic high-performance computing (HPC) has been a focus at Swinburne for more than two decades, currently realised by a Petaflops/Petabytes facility that underpins Swinburne, national and international research capabilities. 

The Senior Research Infrastructure (HPC) Support role involves overseeing software and infrastructure projects, project management, software engineering, HPC system administration, mentoring, research, and development activities. The position requires collaboration with various teams within Swinburne, including Information Technology Services, Astronomy Data and Computing Services (ADACS), and the research community.

The position will be based at Swinburne University of Technology which maintains a leading profile in supercomputing and related astronomical research through the activities of the Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing

About You  
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities: 

  • Provide high-level system administration within the Swinburne supercomputing environment to ensure that research computing requirements are met and that the environment is optimised for efficient usage. 
  • In consultation with the Swinburne research community, develop software and systems for use in research. 
  • Assist in the effective delivery of Swinburne requirements within the national programs that have a dependence on the Swinburne HPC environment, ensuring that HPC-related project milestones and reporting deadlines are met. 
  • Management of project resource requirements for HPC and data science projects. 
  • Lead the relationship between Swinburne and the relevant stakeholders to ensure that business requirements for effective operations of the HPC environment are met.

Qualifications
  • A degree in computer science, software engineering or information technology or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Relevant Industry Certification.
