About the job
As our Lecturer, you will undertake teaching and research activities in areas related to construction engineering, management and technology. This includes Digital Design, Building Information Modelling, Construction Automation, Digital Fabrication, and Sustainable and Smart Construction.

You will contribute to the teaching programs of the Department at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will also assume administrative tasks associated with normal teaching duties, including developing and supporting academic programs and working with the academic team in the development of program change and innovation. Part of your role will be mentor and support students on academic matters, and will also supervise Honours, and Masters Coursework students.

In research, you will work in a collaborative team environment to develop new areas of research and contribute to the University’s research excellence and impact in partnership with external partners. Your primary research expectation is to make original and innovative contributions to the advancement of construction technology research in areas related to construction automation, and development of disruptive interventions and technologies that will enable step-changes in emerging and future construction practices.

Civil and Construction Engineering at Swinburne is a world-class learning and research Department within the School of Engineering. In 2018, the Department was ranked 133 worldwide for civil engineering according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. The Department has a highly dedicated team of 27 full-time teaching and research staff and is home for more than 1,000 undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students, in addition to more than 100 higher degree research students.

About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:

• An earned doctoral qualification in Civil/Construction Engineering, construction management or a related field.

• Strong publications in areas related to construction engineering, technology and management, and convergence of construction practices with technologies and automation

• Demonstrated evidence of self-directed research ability including research funding and publications, and higher degree research students supervision
