What you’ll be doing 

Our Digital Data platform team is looking for a Data Scientist – Digital Search to develop and deploy high impact data science capabilities and tooling to support our Elastic search platform. 

You’ll have 

• Work closely with the data science, engineering, user experience and marketing teams to ensure that business case and customer satisfaction goals are met.
• Desire to conduct research on search, evaluation, and user satisfaction, retail domain advances in science and industries and employ learnings into production and metrics initiatives.
• Able to deliver solutions, which are simple, robust and scalable and in touch with the real world. We are not after textbook solutions, but clever simple ideas which will help deliver a world class search product.
• Understanding we are a retail business and not a theoretical research organisation and that agreed timelines and commitments are important.  

You’ll also have  

• 3+ years of relevant experience is preferred.
• Experience in ML/AI product development and iterative work - from data generation/collection to visualization and explainability, including productising real-world AI/ML applications, primarily based on Information Retrieval.
• Coding skills in Python, experience working with containerisation and micro-services Experience working with any of the following machine learning frameworks / libraries- R, tensorflow, Pytorch, numpy, scipy, Spacy and Pandas.
• Preferred experience within A/B Testing, NLP, semantic technologies and graph technology with understanding of fundamental linguistic and grammatical concepts and their use in NLP applications.
• Experience working with large data sets using open-source technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, and Elastic/Solr search.
