About the Role
As the Directorâs Astrophysics Research Fellow, you will be conducting research in collaboration with the Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputingâs Director, Professor Jean Brodie. The research will involve observational studies of extragalactic star clusters, galaxies and clusters of galaxies, using large ground-based optical/near-IR telescopes and observatories in space. The work will support the goals of the âSAGESâ project (
sages.ucolick.org).
In this role you will conduct independent research and work collaboratively with other staff within the Centre of Astrophysics and Supercomputing as well as with outside collaborators, and progress towards building an independent research career.
About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
- A PhD in observational astrophysics
- A strong track record of research in galaxy formation and evolution as demonstrated by publications
- Experience in handling data from optical/IR imaging cameras and spectrographs
- Proficient interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work within a diverse team
