What you’ll be doing

As the way we shop continues to evolve, our Digital team keeps us at the cutting edge. Driven by our innovative, inclusive and forward-thinking culture, we’re constantly looking at ways to reinvent the shopping experience for our customers and build the next generation of digital retailing

You will be responsible for design, implementation and development of robust database solutions, as well as being responsible for the timely deployment and support of functional and cost-effective systems and solutions.

As part of the role, you will be required to support database-related components, including all aspects of engineered systems and the day to day running and maintenance, as well as providing technical expertise and advice and ensure database performance meets the requirements of the application.

You will be required to Implement and configure databases & engineered systems to design specifications and implement maintenance procedures and tools to support the environment, as well as implement backup and recovery procedures to meet application requirements.

You will have previous experience building and managing database environments in a production landscape and perform database related software installations and upgrades, which also includes coordination of patching services from a vendor.

A key requirement for this role is your extensive experience with database performance tuning while working with Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL and Oracle

Key responsibilities will include:

• Seven or more years’ experience in IT with at least five of these years being in a database environment
• Demonstrated expertise in at least one database management system and associated tools, strong preference being Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL
• Skills design for performance and database performance tuning
• Demonstrated understanding of Disaster Recovery plan and execution
• Good grasp of security issues and ways of implementing best practice protection

Good things you’ll need           

• Accredited training in relevant DBMS
• Tertiary qualifications in IT or a related discipline preferred
• Demonstrated awareness in applicable IT change and problem management processes
• Excellent analytical and problem resolution skills
