About the Role
We currently have excellent opportunities for two dedicated professionals to join the Safer Community team at Swinburne. Safer Community is the central point of enquiry, reporting, assessment and coordination for problem behaviours, sexual harassment and assault, domestic and family violence and child safety related matters that affect students.

As the Safer Community Advisor, you will be the first point of contact for initial inquiries and intake, triage, assessment, and investigation of problem behaviour resulting from Safer Community referrals. You will will also play a key role in developing and managing prevention and promotion initiatives to raise awareness of and reduce instances of inappropriate, concerning or threatening behaviours.

About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including managing persons in crisis
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in working with a multidisciplinary team, including managing behavioural risks in a frontline service
  • Highly-developed report-writing and presentation skills and proven ability to communicate effectively to a broad range of individuals and groups from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds
  • Demonstrated skills in investigation, case analysis, case formulation and case management
  • Skills in using Structured Professional Judgment (SPJ) tools for a variety of behavioural concerns is highly desirable

Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualifications and relevant experience in areas of psychology, social work, legal or related disciplines
  • Registration and membership to applicable professional bodies, e.g. Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), Asia Pacific Association of Threat Assessment Professional (APATAP), Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), etc.
  • Mental Health First Aid certification is preferred
