Join our team as Junior Sous Chef at The Star Brisbane.

The Star Brisbane, positioned at the heart of the new Queen’s Wharf Brisbane precinct, will be Australia’s newest entertainment and leisure destination. Commencing a staged opening in 2024, The Star Brisbane will bring a range of unique entertainment options, world class hotels, dining, bars, luxury retail, gaming and a state-of-the-art Event Centre, transforming how people will play, shop and socialise in the river city.

We are looking for Junior Sous to support the team for our pre-opening team. This role offers the opportunity to support the team in ensuring flawless delivery and execution of product excellence and service whilst maintaining food safety. This is a fantastic opportunity where you can put your skills and knowledge to the test to deliver a thrilling new era for food and beverage in Brisbane!     

A few of your responsibilities:

  • Guarantee that food is prepared in accordance with menu specifications, presentation guidelines, and kitchen quality standards.
  • Possess an in-depth understanding of the complete menu, including all knowledge of the base ingredients and their preparation.
  • Supervise and promote exceptional guest service and interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain food costs and stock control.
  • Effectively manage incidents and complaints accurately and in a timely manner
  • Ensure service is fast, fun, friendly, fresh and focused.

What we will be looking for:

  • Extensive culinary experience in high-volume environment
  • A positive and proactive team-oriented mindset, with the capability to lead a diverse group of team members
  • Proficient knowledge of food safety regulations and practices
  • Possession of a trade certificate in Commercial Cookery, international certificates recognized

About you

You will be experienced in high volume kitchen environments with sound knowledge across all sections. This role requires comprehensive knowledge of kitchen hygiene practices and OH&S standards and ensuring your teams sections are stocked and tidy. Preparing mis-en-place and food orders as required by the Executive Chef and Sous Chef whilst following set recipes to ensure a high level of guest satisfaction and consistent quality of product. About us
