About the role

As a Family Contact Worker based in our Dubbo hub, your role will involve overseeing supervised contact meetings between children and young individuals and their families or kinship connections. Additionally, you may need to offer transportation using your own vehicle, along with providing direct support and mentoring to children and young people.

Due to the nature of the role, successful applicants will require flexibility to work a variety of differing shifts (typically lasting 3-5 hours) across a 7 day roster.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and facilitate contact between the child and the parent or person designated to have contact
• Be punctual and clear in the directions provided to participants attending the contact visit
• Ensure safety and well-being of the child and those participating in the visit
• Establish rapport with children and young people through mentoring or youth work
• Complete report writing after each contact with a child or young person
• Access rostering and shift information through email and calendar

Skills & Experience

• Tertiary qualifications in relative field or similar, or relevant experience and skills to undertake the position with the desire to complete relevant qualifications.
• Current Australian Drivers licence
• Current Provide First Aid (HLTAID003/HLTAID011) & Provide CPR (HLTAID009) certificate/s. 
• Previous experience working with children & young people
• Demonstrated interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Sound computer skills – including email, Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to maintain client confidentiality.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).

To be considered for and appointed to a position at Life Without Barriers, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a minimum of two (2) doses or hold a valid medical exemption certificate, in accordance with Life Without Barriers Employee COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. You will be required to provide evidence of your vaccination status during the recruitment process
