About the role

We need someone passionate about the disability sector and want to influence positive change.

You must  possess strong leadership & management skills and experience.

Leading a team of Disability Support Workers across SIL homes in the North Eastern region of Whittlesea and surrounding suburbs of Melbourne, you will work with them with on continually growing their skills and knowledge as disability support professionals whilst ensuring clients are supported to maximise choice within a person-centred active support framework.

We are looking for an individual who can communicate clearly and confidently to multiple teams to ensure work methodology, practices and processes are of the highest standards for the people we support.

This role is Full time with standard work hours of 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. We expect the successful candidate to connect with staff and clients by working from the houses when required.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in a leadership position within the delivery of services to people with a disability
  • A passion and drive to use your leadership capability to make an impact in the sector
  • Interpersonal communication: The ability to communicate effectively with clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
  • Analytical skills: The ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
  • Organizational skills: The ability to manage time and resources effectively.
  • Diploma in relevant Social & Community Services or relevant experience
  • Experience with and knowledge of NDIS funding
  • Current unrestricted Australian Drivers Licence
  • Established influencing and negotiation skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team and provide advice and supervision to achieve positive outcomes
  • Ensure staff are skilled and knowledgeable in the delivery of contemporary disability services guided by the people we support  
  • Facilitate and manage a partnership approach with families and supporters
  • Manage the running of services including budgets, compliance, reporting and staff ratios
  • Collaborate with key business partners to ensure national consistency in delivering a positive service
  • Manage, monitor and report on incidents and complaints
  • Communicate and act in ways that are consistent with Life Without Barriers’ values
  • Participate and share the responsibility of an on-call roster

To be considered for and appointed to a position at Life Without Barriers, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a minimum of two (2) doses or hold a valid medical exemption certificate, in accordance with Life Without Barriers Employee COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. You will be required to provide evidence of your vaccination status during the recruitment process.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check, an NDIS Workers Screening Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
