About the role

Reporting to the Head of People and Culture Business Partnering for Disability & Mental Health you will be focused on ensuring Managers and Leaders are provided with timely advice and coaching based on a solid legislative understanding, an appreciation for the importance of positive workplace culture, and knowledge of better practice HR approaches to day-to-day operational challenges. You will be working in a fast paced, agile environment where resilience and a coaching approach will be key to your success.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity located in Melbourne with  flexibility to work remotely from home and/or in a hybrid capacity.  There will be occasions when you are required to attend the office as well as travel from time to time.

Key responsibilities

  • Support Leaders on a range of people management, human resources and employment relations matters, to minimise risk and improve culture and performance to achieve desired business outcomes, escalating where required
  • Undertake case management of matters (end-to-end support), in line with relevant Awards and/or Enterprise Agreements, Policies and Procedures
  • Provide consistent HR advice and coaching to Managers and leaders
  • Provide analysis of relevant research and operational information that will assist managers to evaluate and integrate the information they receive
  • Support upskilling of the business through facilitated workshops and day to day coaching
  • Coordinate and maintain team management systems and ensure relevant information is input on a consistent and regular basis.
  • Provide relevant data to assist with budgeting, the operation of the team and production of regular reports.
  • Provide inputs to broader P&C team or Shared Services on improvement opportunities, business perspectives and/or contribution to P&C projects
  • Build knowledge banks and other collateral for access by line supervisors and managers and the broader P&C team
  • Support the consistent design and adoption of new policies, practices and programs in collaboration with stakeholders

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Experience as an HR generalist and experience in IR/ER
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation, modern awards and other industrial instruments
  • The ability to approach a problem laterally and provide alternative resolutions
  • The ability to manage high volumes of workplace issues
  • Solution focused with strong influencing skills
  • Experience working in a fluid and changing environment
  • Strong verbal communication skills and the confidence to present to groups of people
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products
