About the role

Leading a new team, this is an opportunity for an experience Mental Health Team Leader with Lived Experience to join our voluntary subacute inpatient care and intervention program based in Bathurst (attached to the Bathurst Hospital). You will promote recovery and positive change of people with mental illness on evidence based best practice. Two year maximum term part time (three days per week) contract where you will lead a new team to deliver high quality, client-centred supports to people with mental health issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advocate for clients and Lived Experience (Lex) in the development of the service and support of the LEx workforce
  • Coordinate and manage daily operations of the program
  • Provide supervision and support to your team
  • Work together with the individual, their family, carers, key supports and community partners to establish a dynamic, person-centrered approach informed by principles of recovery
  • Contribute towards and implement a LEx Practice Framework 
  • Provide services in accordance with funding agency standards and agreements
  • Implement high quality care plans or Individual Plan
  • Coordinate rostering and timesheet requirements
  • Consistently embody LEx values based on sharing experiences, modelling hope, empowerment, justice, full citizenship and mutuality

 Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated lived experience (LEx) of personal mental health issues and a rich understanding of personal processes of recovery
  • Be willing to purposefully use personal story to help others further their own understanding of recovery and support the LEx workforce
  • Relevant Mental Health, Social, Community Services qualification
  • An unrestricted Australian Driver’s Licence and access to reliable motor vehicle including insurance
  • Demonstrated experience of working in a leadership position in a human services organisation
  • Demonstrated experience in working with individuals, families and/or groups from a strength-based culturally appropriate

  • Demonstrated commitment to the values of dignity, respect, inclusion empowerment, confidentiality and strength-based practice
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificate

To be considered for and appointed to a position at Life Without Barriers, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a minimum of two (2) doses or hold a valid medical exemption certificate, in accordance with Life Without Barriers Employee COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. You will be required to provide evidence of your vaccination status during the recruitment process.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check (paid by us).
