About the Role
Make a real difference in the lives of people with mental ill health and disability with this unique opportunity to provide your expert knowledge and experience as a strategic and tactical communications professional across diverse groups of people. As a key member of the Disability & Mental Health (DMH) team, you will provide strategic and practical communication and change management direction to senior leadership.  Using your strategic communications experience from within the community services sector you will make a positive impact on our teams, the people we support and their families.

This role is permanent full time and provides flexibility to work in a hybrid arrangement including from home and one of our offices in Brisbane, Newcastle, Sydney or Melbourne.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Disability & Mental Health (DMH) leadership team to design a comprehensive communications strategy for DMH with a focus on internal change communications
  • Lead the development of a program of communications engagement with clients and families in accessible form
  • Provide strategic communications advice to DMH Executive and Senior Leadership
  • Develop content that delivers outcomes aligned to strategic objectives
  • Develop, recommend, implement and evaluate best practice communications approaches with a focus on accessible communication, positive story based content announcements and relevant video and other scripts
  • Work with various teams to integrate change communications management activities into project plans
  • Collaborate with relevant teams to design, develop and deliver targeted message plans, communication preparation and delivery

Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Communications, Business, or similar 
  • Experience in a senior communications role within the community services sector
  • Experience creating accessible and inclusive communications
  • Experience using change management principles and methodologies
  • Strong writing, editing proofreading, layout and design, professional/publishing skills
  • A focus on relationships with the ability to influence and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, and ability to think laterally and strategically
  • Ability to handle sensitive material, demonstrate a high level of confidentiality, and operate with integrity and honesty

Successful candidates will be required to clear relevant state-based probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check (paid for by us).

To be considered for and appointed to a position at Life Without Barriers, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a minimum of two (2) doses or hold a valid medical exemption certificate, in accordance with Life Without Barriers Employee COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.
